DAY 2 AGRA TO RATHAMBORE

Today we spent most of our time in the coach which enabled us to see how poor the country is. On our way to Rathambore we stopped at Fatehpur Sikri an old palace built for a king's wives : the three official wives and his 1500 concubines....One of his wives was hindou, the second was catholic and the third muslim. This vast red monument was impressive and absolutely magnificent.

As we kept on driving through the country, we discovered that there was pollution everywhere apart from in the countryside where we saw endless fields growing rice, or wheat mostly.

We also realized that there was a great variety of houses, from really elaborate andornate ones, to straw huts side by side.

For lunch we stopped at a local and traditional hindi restaurant. The food was delicious but very spicy. As we were leaving the restaurant we were shocked to see a man hitting a puppy! Animals are not well treated in India, we even saw a dog and a cow dead on the road!

However, the population is extremely kind and eager to meet us and talk to us. They wave at us andT  they also ask to take our photograph all the time. It is really touching!

Day 1 still.....

We arrived very early in the morning at Delhi airport and we were immediately struck by the amount of people and by the fog of pollution!!

However, our coach was there to meet us with our guide, Vikram, and take us to Agra where we visited the Red fort at the beginning of the afternoon and the Taj Mahal later on in the day.

We had a tuk tuk ride/race and then we stayed at the Taj Mahal until the sun was set. It was magnificent!
